It seems every time I drive around in Kansas City's suburbs I see another Lowe's or Target going up. How many big box stores do we need? One at every intersection? Can't we drive another 10 minutes to pick up our paint or toilet paper?
That's what I like about urban development. Maybe because there's so many people involved and affected (16,000 downtown residents to date), what goes in goes in with a lot of thought an research. Thus you see local coffee shops, art studios, creative hair salons (Hair Spray Cafe in the River Market) and Irish pubs in the P&L district. The Costentino's grocery store that will open later this year will be a 30,000 square foot full-service grocery store and deli wtih a 240 unit condo tower on top.. It's all unique, refreshing, welcomed and needed.
Go downtown Kansas City.
