Plaza Condos are Consistently Hot
October 13th, 2008 5:06 PM

The Plaza has been around since 1927 and will be around another 80 years thus the reason real estate sales tend to be insulated from the bad times. But 2008 hasn't been good for real estate and even the Plaza has felt the pinch. That is except for the Churchill and Sulgrave condos. Churchill sold one condo a month during 2008 and the Sulgrave followed closely with 10 condo sales.

Next in line was the Hemingway with 6 sales in the last 12 months. It's such a one of a kind building, it will always be a front runner. Then not performing nearly as well were the Regency with 5 sale and the Carlton Plaza with just 4 sales in the past 12 months.

Kansas City was ranked number #10 just beneath St. Louis. Atlanta was #1, San Francisco #2, Dallas #3 and Minneapolois #4.

No doubt Kansas City's new downtown Power & Light district including it's see and be seen in bars, theatre and outdoor living room helped KC make the single's hot spot list.

Then: A typically beleaguered American city center of the suburban era.

Now: The city invested $5 billion to restore this Art Deco district, inaugurating the all-glass, 18,500-seat Sprint Center, which hosts sports events and concerts, and the Power and Light District, packing more than 30 restaurants and clubs into a mere eight blocks.

Don’t Miss: The public park atop the roof of a three-story building at 12th and Main streets—it’s a haven of green surrounded by skyscrapers.
